How to make Tomato Pickle in india

Making tomato pickle is a simple and flavorful way to preserve tomatoes. Here is a traditional recipe that you can follow:

Ingredients:

  • 500g ripe tomatoes
  • 200g salt
  • 50g red chili powder
  • 50g mustard seeds
  • 50g fenugreek seeds
  • 100g sesame oil or any other edible oil

Instructions:

  1. Wash and dry the tomatoes. Cut each tomato into small pieces, removing the stem and any hard parts.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the tomato pieces with 200g of salt and keep it aside for 24 hours.
  3. In a pan, heat the oil on medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds to the pan and stir until the seeds start to crackle.
  4. Add the red chili powder to the pan and stir for a minute. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool.
  5. Add the oil and spice mixture to the bowl with the salted tomato pieces and mix well.
  6. Transfer the pickle to an airtight jar and store it in a cool and dry place. The pickle will be ready to eat after 2-3 days, and it can be stored for up to a year.

Note: You can adjust the amount of salt, red chili powder, and oil to suit your taste preferences. You can also add other spices like turmeric, asafoetida, or fennel seeds to the pickle if desired.
